SREE NARAYANA GURUDEV

Sree Narayana Trusts Arts and Science College, Pambanar, upholds the ideals of Sree Narayana Guru , the patron saint of Sree Narayana Institutions. The life and teaching of Sree Narayana Guru has been instrumental in illuminating the best way to cure the social, cultural, and intellectual ills of all times.

Sree Narayana Guru was a great Indian seer of 20th century who visualized the ultimate reality in himself. The Guru was born at 6-15 a.m on August 28, 1855 (1031 chingom 14 / M.E) in “Vayalvaram Veedu” at Chempazhanthy, a village near Trivandrum. A great philosopher-poet of modern India, the Guru, an erudite scholar of Sanskrit, Malayalam and Tamil, belonged to the great Indian philosophical tradition of Adwaita. As the force behind the social reform movement, the Guru paved the way for a progressive Kerala society. A close study of his life and works reveals that he shed clear light on the evil of casteism from the vantage point of the highest spiritual insight.

Guru formulated the fundamental and essential message of Adwaitha Vedanta a practical philosophy of day to day life as “ONE CASTE, ONE RELIGION, ONE GOD FOR MAN ” .

On the wall of the consecrated temple at Aruvippuram, Guru inscribed the divine proclamation of oneness of man based on the fundamental principle of the nonduality as: “This is the model abode where all men live in brotherhood devoid of dividing walls of caste or race or hatred of rival faith”.
