National Service Scheme Unit No. 139
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a scheme
of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides
opportunities to students to take part in various community service activities
& programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands-on experience to
young students in delivering community service and nurture them to develop into
responsible citizens. NSS has rendered a
host of community based services which involves sanitation drives, adoption of
villages, blood donation, service to
inmates of hospices etc.

Mission: Personality Development through
service to the community.
Selection of Volunteers :The new volunteers are
selected from the first-year U.G students through a selection process. The
notifications are shared with students and interested candidates can apply
through Programme Officers. Personal interviews will be conducted with each
applicant. 50 volunteers will be selected each year.
Candidate should have minimum attendance of 240 hours in NSS, should take part in NSS for 2 years, and should attend 1 Special camp and at least one minicamp.
